MY WORLD

ESPLAIS

I've been playing basketball since I was 10 years old, when I was coursing 5th of Primary School. And I've always been in the same team: Els Esplais. I joined that team because all my friends were there and, you know, I was little so the only thing important were friends!

Since I joined the team, my teammates haven't changed a lot. I mean, we have been the same nice people together for years!

But, in this season some little problems appeared. But, fortunately, not between us. We began the season very well, winning the firsts 5 matches, or when we lost, we played well. But, in mid season, we start losing matches, and played it badly. So that made lowering our moral.

Also, some of my teammates said during the season that the next year will not be playing basketball because of the studies. For example, Mireya next year will do a course in the afternoons, so she couldn't come. And me, for example, next year will be doing batxillerat, and basketball trainings and matches take so much time and I also do more extracurricular activities. So, I will not continue.

That's why the team can't continue, it wouldn't be the same if most of us leave the team. But some of my teammates will continue playing in other teams, for example Maria will try to do a test to enter in UniGirona, one of the most important teams in Catalonia. I hope they accept her! Or some of them want to go to Bàsquet Castelló, the other team of the village.

Last Sunday 31th of May we played our last match against Sarrià de Ter. We all wanted to win, to finish the season with a great victory. And yes, we won. We won doubling the points of the other team: 90 - 45! I'm proud of us because we made a grat game and we finished the season in the best way!

For me, this 6 years with those girls have been incredible! I shared great victories with them, as we have also shared defeats. I have learned a lot and I had a great great time. And I'm a bit sad thinking that this is over, but we will always remember our achievements as a team and all the lived moments.

Thank you to all my teammates for this 6 awesome years!!! I love you all! VISCA ESPLAIS!

MY WORLD

Last Sunday (17th May), I participated to the II Guitar Meeting of Figueres. In this meeting attended so many music schools in Alt and Baix Empordà, la Garrotxa and Girona. It also participate the only guitar orchestra of Spain, the Orquestra de Guitarres de Barcelona.

Every guitar school played their own songs (1, 2 or 3 songs) and then we played two songs together. The Orquestra de Guitarres de Barcelona played 3 songs too, and they were amazing!

On Saturday, we had to rehearse the  songs that we had to play all together. The songs were a bit difficult, specially because they were so fast. But we practice enough, and on Sunday we all made a great concert. Also, our director was the director of the Orquestra de Guitarres de Barcelona, so it was an honor to all of us.

I think it was such a good experience, because I could learn a lot and try new things. I also met new people. And, one of the bests parts, I could heard the other guitar groups and the Orchestra.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES BETWEEN READING A BOOK OR AN EBOOK

Nowadays, we're so familiarized with tecnology. That's why it's not strange that we can read a book without having a book: we can read it through a screen using eBooks.

Personally, I prefer reading books, because I'm always connected to mobiles, pc... And, when I'm reading, I like to disconnect of all. Also, because I like having the book, like turn pages, smell the odor of the book... But, let's see the advantages and disadvantages of reading a book and reading an eBook.

                                                             BOOK:

ADVANTAGES:
- Books don't need energy to run.
- When you finish reading it you can keep it and save it.
- You can feel the book.
- The book is yours and you can do whatever you want with it.
- Also, the writer can sign the book.

DISADVENTAGES:
- It's more expensive.
- It takes up more space.

EBOOK:

ADVANTAGES:
- It's cheaper than a book in paper.
- You have all the books you want in the eBook. That means that it doesn't takes up much space.
- It's easy to carry the eBook, because it doesn't weights too much.
- You don't have to move or wait to buy a book. You can buy it instantatly.
- You can also search the definition on the eBook, because, most of it, bring an incorpored dictionary.

DISADVANTAGES:
- eBooks need Internet to buy any book.
- It also needs to charge the battery. And the battery can ends at any time.
- It exhausts your eyes.
- Not all the books have a digital version of it.
- You can't feel the same as the book. I mean, you can't turn the pages, smell the odor of the book...

MY WORLD

Last Saturday I went to a speech contest in Vilajuïga. Our catalan teachers (Quim and Ofra) signed up Mireia Colomer and I.

The contest consisted of: they give us two topics: "What would you like to be invented?" and "What historical moment would you like to have lived?". They gave these topics on Thursday, so we had 2 days (aprox.) to prepare these topics. Our teachers helped us to prepare a good introduction and how to prepare the presentation. Then, on the contest, we had to choose one of these topics randomly and we had to expose it to the contest jurors and talk about it 3 minutes (in the contest we can't see the time so it was so hard to control it). The 5 best people, will go to the final.

Finally, on Saturday was the contest, so in the early morning we were ready to start. We were 24 participants from all the high schools from Alt Empordà. They divided us in 2 groups, and me and Mireia were in the first group. We were all so nervous! The participants had to go into a room where the jurors were. Into that room only were the jurors, and the parents saw us through a camera so we didn't see them, but they could see us. The participants couldn't see the other participants, so they were outside.

When it was my turn, I was so nervous because we couldn't bring any support like powerpoint or a paper, but once I started to speak, I started to feel so much comfortable and even though I forgot some things, it was good.

While the second group was exposing, the first group went to visit the "Celler Espelt" and vice versa.

Then, the most interesting part was when, finally, the jursos said the finalists. We were 24 people and it only were 5 finalists so it was hard to pass into the final. But... I passed! At that moment, I didn't expect it because there were people who had prepared a lot and me, compared to them... I thought I couldn't win. But I passed into the final so I was so exited.

The jurors give us 5 minutes to prepare the exposition. We had to expose the theme that we didn't do the first time. The first time I did "What would you like to be invented?", so this time I did "What historical moment would you like to have lived?". Personally, I think that the first one was better than the second one, so that's why I passed into the final and with the second one I had no opportunities to win, but I never lost hope.

I was the second one to do the exposition, so I heard 3 of the other 4 participants, and I was so suprised. They did all very well!

Finally, after a long 10 minutes, the jurors gave the final results. And I was in fifth place. It won girl from Ramon Muntaner, Olma Giró. The girl did it so well! She deserved to win.

I was very happy with my result, because I never thought I could get into the final. I also won an award, all the finalists won something: spend a day in "Forum Impulsa", that it's in june in Girona. Also the first prize was a tablet; the second, a GoPro and the third, a headphones.

I think it was a very good experience that will help me in the future and, also, I made some friends and I hope that I will see them again!

MY WORLD

Last Friday, I saw on Facebook an image. That image was saying "A woman without curves isn't a woman" and I got very upset when I saw this. I mean, a skinny woman isn't a woman because she hasn't have curves?

Lately, everyone was talking about we shouldn't discriminate anybody about his or her body. Basically, that we shouldn't criticize fat people. And I agree with it, everyone is different and we have to respect each other.

But, if we have to respect fat people, why we don't have to respect skinny people? There are people (specially girls) who want to be slim and have a "perfect body", but if someone is skinnier than what's considered the "perfect body", that person is anorexic or ugly because he or she's too much skinny.

For example, one day I saw an image of a chubby model, I read the comments and everyone was saying that she was perfect, more beautiful than the skinny models nowadays. Everyone was defending her. And I was like, it's ok, she's so beautiful. But, then, I saw an image of a skinny model, I read the comments and most of the people was saying things like "OMG she's not beautiful at all!" "She's ugly, so skinny" "She's not a woman, she's a stick". And I asked myself "Why? Why everyone criticize skinny people and defends fat people?". If you respect fat models, respect skinny models. I find this so hypocrite, you say everyone is perfect, just the way they are, but if they're skinny they are ugly. Please, no. If fat models are perfect, skinny models are perfect too.

With this, I want to say that we don't have to criticize anyone because of his or her body, either skinny people, or fat people.

CARNIVAL

Carnival is one of my favourite holidays, because everybody is happy and you can dress up like anything you can imagine.

This year, my friends and I dressed up as Snow White and it was so cool! The first week, we went in Sant Pere, and we all stay overnight at Silvana's house (we were like 12 girls sleeping at her home on the floor). And it was so great to spent all the night dancing and then sleeping all together.

The next week we went in Castelló. Friday night, first we went to have dinner in a restaurant in Empuriabrava and then we watch the floats. After that we went to Castelló to the "discomovil" and we spent all the night dancing. Saturday night was so cold! So we had to wear a jacket when we were outside. But, the cold doesn't bothered us and we danced all night long!

This carnival it has been cooler than the last year's carnival. That's because this year we did more things and we stayed at the parties until later than last year. Also, because this year I dressed up with more friends and at the parties we found more friends and it was so cool because everybody was friendly and having fun. I hope next year will be even better! We're all waiting for Carnival 2016!

WINTER DAYS

Do you love these days when it's so cold outside and you're in home with a cup of hot chocolate watching a movie? Yes, I think everybody loves this.

The last week it has been so cold and, on Saturday it also snowed a little! Unfortunately, the snow didn't last enough and it doesn't stay at the ground. Nevermind, what I'm saying is that I love the cold days if I stay at home. This weekend it was like that. In Saturday morning I played a basketball match (that my team and I won) and the rest of the day I stayed at home. I watched an episode of American Horror Story in my bed with my Colacao and my blanket and it was so perfect!

These are my favorite days in winter. But, to be totally perfect, I need a boyfriend.

Also, one of my favourite parts of the winter (when I'm at home) it's going to sleep. I mean, these super cold days that you have to put 2 thick blankets to stay comfortable at your bed. And, in that moment when your bed is warm is totally perfect. And it's more perfect if you read a book. Call me weird but I love reading good books at night in my bed.

And when you wake up and it's saturday and you know that you can stay in bed for a few minutes more... Just Per-fect.

BEST MOMENT OF MY HOLIDAYS

This christmas was full of homework. Specially, we had a lot of group projects, so we've got to meet all together, and it was so difficult. Also the group projects took me a lot of time to do my single homework and study for the exams and, in some moments, I've been very stressed.

But, obviously, I had a really good time with my family and friends. The present I liked the most was a new mobile phone. But, for me, the really important thing of Christmas is be with your family and enjoy it;)

I think that the best moment of my holidays was when I went to celebrate the end of the year with my friends in Sant Pere. I had dinner on Mar's house, because my parents were with their friends and they couldn't bring me to the party. I had a great time with her and her family, specially when we ate the grapes and we celebrate all together the new year; and when Mar and me prepared ourselves for the party (like putting our dresses, putting on make up...)

The party was so great! Because a lot of people of the high school came to the party. That day everyone was so nice and we all were like friends, I felt so close to everyone, it was so pleasant. Also, the music was so good because the DJ put new songs and old songs that were so popular when I was little and that gave me a lot of memories. But, the most of the time the DJ was putting actual songs.

I chose that moment like the best moment of my holidays because it was diferent. I obviously had a great time with my family these days but the party was so cool, with a lot friends, and I think that it's when I enjoyed the most, just dancing with friends, celebrating the new year!

MY WORLD

This summer I went to a cruise on the Baltic Sea. I visited so many countries: Estonia, Russia, Finland, Sweden and Germany.

Estonia: I didn't visit a lot of Estonia (only a few places of the capital, Tallinn) because it was the first day and my family and I were so tired (because we had to take a plane on Barcelona and we had to woke up so early). But I have to say that the estonian cuisine (for me) is horrible! I think I didn't like it because it's very different from the mediterranean food.

Russia: We arrived at Russia the next day and we stayed here for 2 days. We visited St Petersburg. People think that russians are serious people; and yes, it's true. Russian people are very different than Spanish people. For example, I didn't saw anyone laughing, shouting... All the people were serious. And, also, a lot of buildings were grey, a very sad colour. Our guide said that the last year the city council appointed a law that says that no one could build another gray (big) building. A part from this, we visited a very beautiful church, The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, also called the Church on Spilt Blood.

Finland: We visited the capital, Helsinki. It's a very beautiful city! It's small compared to Madrid or Barcelona. People on Finland are so nice and kind, but the prices on Finland are very high! My father bought a coffee and it costed 5,50€. So expensive! In Finland we didn't visit monuments, we just walked arround the city. It was so relaxing.

Sweden: We visited Stockholm. Sweden it's very similar to Finland. The people are also nice and gentile, the products so expensive too... We took a tourist bus and we saw the city.

Germany: We visited Lübeck, a city in northen Germany. We visited St. Mary's Church and the Holsten Gate and we took a lot of photos! We spend the rest of the day visiting the city.

A part from all the beautiful places we visit, I did some friends on this cruise: Martí, Arnau, Víctor and Marta (Martí and Arnau are brothers and Víctor and Marta are brothers too). Marta and I became very close friends and we still in contact through social networks. She lives in Barcelona. Also, in summer, she came in my house to spend a few days and then I went to Barcelona in her house. We want to do it again next summer and also, this winter we want to go ski together. This were the best hollidays ever!

MY WORLD

LITTLE MODELS

Hi everyone! So, this is my second "My World" and, this time, I'm going to talk you about one thing that I saw few days ago on the Internet.

Well, I was on Facebook and I saw a picture of a pretty 9 years old girl. That girl is a model, and she's very famous. Her name is Kristina Pímenova. I had seen pictures of her before and I already knew her but this time she appeared on Facebook because it was declared the most beautiful girl in the world.

Yes, with only 3 years old, her mother signed up in a model agency, and she administrates her accounts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter (those accounts have like thousand of followers). Now, with only 9 years old she has worked with fashion brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli, Giorgio Armani, Benetton and Vogue.

But it's that normal? I mean, can a 9 years old girl wear make-up, heels, jewelry and pose for famous magazines? I don't think so. This little girl is acting like an adult, and that makes her childhood disappears. And the worst of all is that this is not the only case; there are more girls (under 10 years old) posing for fashion magazines like they're adults.

Kristina PimenovaOkay, when I was little I also dreamed of becoming a model, but now I see this girl and I know that she doesn't do the things that she should do at her age (like spend all Saturday with friends playing with dolls). I'm sure that a part of her want to have a normal life, away from the photo shoots and catwalk lights.

I think this had to stop. Modeling should be for adults only, and if a child do that, it has to be only to promote any product or any brand of clothing once or twice. Bringing these things to the extreme is never good, because, basically, these children can't decide what they want to do (their parents are who decided it), and that makes children do not have the childhood that they should have.

MY WORLD

This time I'm going to talk about what I did last weekend (Yes, I know it's typical and maybe you don't interest what I did, but this is the first time that I do My Space and I don't know exactly what to say).

No, I will not talk about all I did last weekend (like I was on primary school), only what I've found more interesting.

So last saturday I went to the cinema to watch the 3th part of The Hunger Games, Mockinjay part I (in spanish, Sinsajo parte I). I've read the books and I have to say that this part is very loyal to the book, that's perfect. I also read comments on the internet about that movie and everyone said that is perfect, better than the book, etc. Mmm... I don't think so. I don't want to be the typical person who says "the books are always better than the movies" (although it's true), but, in my opinion, the book is much better, only because the first part of the last book is boring, because almost nothing happens and the movie it's just that part. Compared with the second film, in this one nothing happens.

But I'm sure that the best last part of the saga will be much better, because the best part of the entire triology is the end.

Apart from this, I spent all the weekend studying hard for the exams. Yes, such a good weekend...
